In 2009, I opened my first "studio." It was 100 square feet in the living room of my rented apartment. Sound awkward for clients? It was.
After years of bouncing around commercial spaces, struggling with expensive annual commitments, terrible parking situations, rentals that were run down, uninviting or simply didn’t fit my needs... I was beyond frustrated that something as simple as space was impeding not only my clients' experience, but my creativity as an artist.
Here I was, a luxury brand struggling to deliver the consistent and high-touch experience I wanted to provide for my clients.
That is when I decided to build Studio at 428 from the ground up. I took over a decades worth of hopes, dreams, and lessons learned and infused them into every. single. detail.

frequently asked questions
The studio calendar is available to book 60 days out. Photographers who are part of our membership have access 6 months out in advance.
We offer a flexible cancellation/reschedule policy. You may cancel or reschedule your session up to 24 hours in advance and we will provide you with a full studio credit to use within 1 year of your original reservation date.
If you cancel, no-show or reschedule within 24 hours of your reservation, the rental will be considered complete and no studio credit will be issued.
We do not offer refunds under any circumstance.
As our private rentals do not have an attendant on site, we do require that studio renters provide proof of general liability insurance. If you do not have general liability insurance but are interested in reserving the space, please reach out to us at hello@studioat428 to discuss alternative options to meet your business's needs.
There is a free public parking lot directly adjacent to the Studio, in addition to ample street parking.
Yes! We have tables and chairs to accommodate up to 16 workshop participants. If you need to accommodate more than 16, please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
We have a mini kitchenette that we keep fully stocked with still and sparkling water, light snacks and a Nespresso machine.
You are welcome to move around any of our seating options, as well as small props and side tables. The bookshelves and large center table must remain where they are.
Yes! We accept well-behaved dogs and cats (and other animals) on a case-by-case basis. To keep the studio allergen-free, we do require an additional pet-fee of $50 to allow for a thorough cleaning between sessions involving pets. We also require a $350 pre-authorization hold on a credit card with any pets to account for any damage that may occur from the animals.
Yes. Because the studio is on the main level in a commercial and residential area, we do require that you keep all curtains closed and use the privacy screens we provide at all times during your session.
